THE GAMBIA
…"The Smiling Coast" as it has been referred
to for many years, is a genuine and befitting accolade to
the Gambian people who tirelessly provide a warm and friendly
welcome to overseas visitors. The Gambia is the smallest country
in West Africa being only 30kms wide and 70km long with Senegal
bordering on three sides and the Atlantic coastline consisting
of glorious white beaches. The River Gambia is also a significant
feature both teeming with fish and also irrigating the lush
vegetation.
In just five and a half hours from Central Europe
holidaymaker's can enjoy (almost) guaranteed sunshine, un
spoilt beaches, intriguing landscapes and a fascinating encounter
with the cultures, traditions and colourful handicrafts which
have been a focal point for the first 30 years of tourism
in The Gambia. Simplicity of access, little or no time differential
(therefore no jet lag) and the vast experience which the
country has gained in its years as a popular resort make
The Gambia an ideal and logical Gateway to Africa for travelers
following the growing trend in booking a different style
of holiday for their family and friends. The temperature is usually
between 30°C
in winter to 34°C on the coast although it can get very
hot inland reaching 42°C. Loose casual clothing is recommended.
The spectacular monsoon rains come during June to October.
They are short lived but create a higher humidity level in
the winter. |
